Tournament Talk: UNITED STARS FC’s President Opens Up on Losses and Lessons

As the sports journalist for the WIMBUM UNITY SPORTS TOURNAMENT 2023-2024, I find myself juggling everything from writing sports articles and match analysis to managing social media and conducting the occasional fun interview. My mission? To make sure this tournament reaches as many people as possible—and to have a good time doing it!

Every now and then, I text some of the key figures involved in the tournament for a casual chat, which I’ve been calling Interview with Mimi J Milson. (Though, let’s be honest, I’m still searching for a cooler name – open to suggestions!)

Recently, I had the pleasure of texting with Mr. Ngwani Linus Ndi, the team president of UNITED STARS FC. Mr. Ngwani, a native of Mbot Village, is a man of many talents—he’s a businessman, the Director of Best Enterprise in Yaounde, and, of course, the driving force behind UNITED STARS FC. Under his leadership, UNITED STARS has transformed into one of the tournament’s top contenders, with a clear goal of lifting the trophy this year—no ifs, ands, or buts!

However, even the best teams can hit a bump in the road, and UNITED STARS did just that when they lost their first match to the up-and-coming YOUNG LOUIS FC. That unexpected loss knocked them out of the top spot in their pool and dashed their hopes of making it to the championship finals, which are now set to be played by YOUNG LOUIS FC and KFUSA FC.

Naturally, I wanted to know how Mr. Ngwani felt about that surprising turn of events and how it influenced his outlook for the rest of the tournament. And since we were texting, it was the perfect opportunity to ask him why, despite their strength.

And also, UNITED STARS doesn’t have a fan club like some of the other teams. We all know how much a cheering crowd can boost a team’s morale on the field! So of course I wanted to know why as well.

Mr. Ngwani had some interesting insights, as you can see.
So, I plan to post a few of those once in a while … stay tuned for that—and for even more fun tidbits from the tournament!

Until next time, keep your spirits high, and remember: stay weird if you have to.

The ABEE Tour was EPIC

As promised the Abee Tour event with Bonzyz was a blast.
It was am amazing experience. As usual my art sounds a little bit different and new so it takes people a while to grasp that’s why all the positive comments and reactions I got at the end of it all was so encouraging and inspiring.
